School Pupils Sample Krill and Tuna!

school2The boys of Springfield Junior School in Ipswich are no slouches when it comes to catching match-sized carp and in a recent Friday afternoon session, they certainly proved the point.

Arriving at Gipping Valley Angling Club’s Middle Farm Lakes soon after lunch, they first set about preparing their Bait-Tech Xpand pellets for the hook, before mixing and sieving a bag of Bait-Tech Big Carp Method Mix Krill and Tuna.

After cupping groundbait into their margin swims, it wasn’t long before all had landed several fish. Sport was hectic throughout their two-hour session and on more than one occasion, all were either playing, or unhooking fish at the same time.

school3Whilst the fish may not have been huge and the venue not exactly challenging, the versatility and effectiveness of the groundbait was fully apparent. For the boys’ coach, GVAC’s Mark Brewster, Friday afternoons at school often meant double physics – it seems that things have changed and perhaps for the better!

Afterwards, Ciaran Gardner explained how he loves to learn new techniques and skills on these sessions and as Mark Twain once said, “I never let my schooling interfere with my education.”
