News from Nisa Waveney Bait-Tech Juniors

2011 was another successful year for Nisa Waveney Bait-Tech Juniors with a win in the under 18’s NJAA national, an individual win and a second place in the NJAA challenge match, an excellent performance against some of the top adults in The Norfolk and Suffolk Summer League finishing 6th overall out of 14 teams.

A third place in the All England Junior Pole Championships at Boston and several of our juniors showing the adults the way at Suffolk Water Park, winning or framing on several occasions in open matches, a second place overall for two of our members in the Stonham Barns open pairs match, well done to everyone, we will go on from strength to strength with several of the younger members now starting to show potential to fight for a team place in the nationals.

Once again Viscount Tackle of Ipswich generously sponsored The Viscount League, and for the third year running it was won by Taylor Thorpe, 2nd was George Mannell and 3rd was James Coathupe, well done to the trophy winners and to all who fished the matches. I foresee plenty of competition for the league title in 2012.

We went to Decoy Lakes near Peterborough for a practice for the NJAA under 18’s match, the parents were also able to fish on this day and everybody who went said they had a most enjoyable day with plenty of fish for everyone. We aim to go back for a day in 2012, where once again the parents will be able to fish. The practice was well worth while as we finished overall winners, and a section win for Linden Robinson ahead of the more established teams like Worksop, who finished 2nd and Barnsley well done to all the team members.

A practice session was also held at Westwood Lakes Boston for the Pole championships, apart from the gale force wind this was another good day. Yet again the practice session came in useful as we finished in 3rd place overall.

The NJAA Challenge held at Suffolk Water Park saw us record a section win, overall 2nd individual place in the under 19’s (Nathan Gooderham) overall individual winner in the under 16’s (Jamie Gooderham) and we also had a 2nd team place and section win whilst guesting for Barnsley (Josh Rhind).

Well done to all our teams, the management would also like to thank Dell Garwood, Daniel Marsh and Josh Rhind all fishing their first ever NJAA nationals.

The Norfolk & Suffolk Summer League in which some of our older juniors took part was held on the river Yare, Suffolk Water Park, and Hinderclay Lakes where yet again the juniors proved more than a match for the adults, with wins and placing’s from Nathan Gooderham, Jamie Gooderham, Taylor Thorpe, and Brian Cant, bearing in mind some of these matches were 100 peggers, Nisa performed incredibly well finishing 6th overall.

The fund raising match was well supported thanks to everyone who bought draw tickets, donated prizes or fished the match, once again the juniors beat the adults, but only by ounces this year, all the money raised will be used for the benefit of the juniors.

Finally thanks must go to the parents and helpers without whom we could not run. Thanks also to Nisa Feeders, Bait-Tech, Viscount Tackle, Stu Mill at Firth Mill Fisheries Suffolk Water Park, and The Environment Agency for their generous support.
