Dean Barlow Winter Method Tip

Bait-Tech’s Dean Barlow has made a name for himself as being one of the top feeder anglers in Britain, so good in fact, he represented his country last year in the first World Feeder Champs. We asked him what advice he could give us to keep the tip flying round in the cold.

Winter method fishing can be a waiting game and confidence to sit and wait is key to success. The bait you use will also get you very different results. Searching your swim and casting around can be productive but always try and think about where and why you cast in certain places. This will give you a better knowledge of where the fish like to be in those temperatures and in that particular weather. Knowledge is key to understanding where the fish are and why they are there.

One

For me at the moment as it’s still so mild (compared with standard winter temperatures) I fish pellets around my feeder for the most part. I always carry groundbait and swap and change until I get the best results.

Two

Soften Bait-Tech Premiums feed pellet in the 2mm micro make the perfect bait and get lots of particle into the swim and a bright bait for them to home in on

Three

Once you have located the fish you can concentrate your efforts in that area and keep the bites coming.

Four

My favourite!
