Winter Corn – Top Tip with Paul Carnwell
Winter fishing is challenging at best. Getting bites can be a difficult task at times. How do you stack the odds in your favour, maximising you chances of a decent days sport?
Bait-Tech’s Paul Carnwell is a man who knows a thing or two about getting bites when the going gets tough. Regular section and match winning performances confirm this. We caught up with Paul and asked his advice on how to produce the goods when the going gets tough.
One
Two classic winter baits are pellet and corn and the combination of the two. This is a staple for most anglers fishing commercials in winter. Whilst over the years I have caught plenty on these great baits, I always find myself looking to take things further and give myself an edge. These new baits from Bait-Tech, I believe have given me that edge!
Two
I wanted to fish similar tactics to the proven pellet and corn approach but felt I could improve on that to get me more bites and better results. As I never follow the crowd I started substituting my pellet for Bait-Tech Super Seed Hemp and my standard corn for the new Bait-Tech Strawberry, Tutti-Fruity and Scopex flavours. So far, my results have been outstanding!
Three
Not only does the new Bait-Tech corn ooze rich flavour but the vibrant colours really stand out. Winter fish feed by sight as well as smell and these have really caught their eye! The corn itself is of top quality and makes great hookbait. A grain of the bright orange Tutti-Fruity corn over a small bed of dark attractive hemp, instant attraction! Not only that but they come in very handy small 300g tins, perfect for this time of year!
Four
Brightly coloured baits are key in winter. This beauty fell to very visual grain of Tutti-Fruity corn over a small scattering of hemp.
