Harry Munro at Bradshaw Hall!

Harry Munro has been enjoying some terrific sport recently at Bradshaw Hall Fisheries – Here is his latest match report from the weekend!

Sunday saw me on Lake 4 at Bradshaw Hall Fisheries I had been up for a practice with my good friend Eric on the IMG_2497Wednesday and to cut a long story short …we emptied it!

After Wednesdays bagging session I was fortunate enough to be invited to fish with a well-known club called 8 bells who had booked Lake 4 for Sunday. On the day it was windy raining and I was told there was even the chance of snow! Very different to Wednesdays conditions where I came home with bad sunburn! Let’s just say my mum was not happy. At the draw I drew peg 5 which I was happy with; Peg 5 has an island that doesn’t drift around like all the others. My pal Eric then pulled out peg 6 so I knew I was in for a good banter filled day.

I got to my peg set everything up but the kitchen sink plumbing up two lines one at 14m to the island where I planned on pinging pellet I used a simple chianti shaped float tied on 0.14 Silstar line and a .12 hook link the hook was a b911f1 my other line was at top kit + 2 where I planned on loose feeding maggot. I also had a bomb rod and pellet wag my pellet wag consisted of some guru pulse line in 4lb with a swivel link running up and 2 float stops holding it place I also used a Drennan shorty wag in 4g this was set up just in case!

On the all-in I fed a dozen maggots on my 2+2 line and a pouch of pellet over to the island. The next hour saw me catch roach steadily after an hour I decided to go look on my pellet line where I had been constantly loose feeding and to cut a long story short I struggled to get a bite! I was gutted because this was my main plan. After having a re think I got my cupping kit filled it with hard pellet and potted it in at 16m straight in front of me I also put a squirt of my faithful Bait-Tech Liquid Strawberry attractor in, after potting the pellets in I decided to chuck out a waggler to try and pick up some f1s I managed 5 f1s and 1 carp then nothing.

My new pellet line at 16m had been rested for near 1 hour so I decided to go on it and sure enough there where fish there. I ended up catching quality skimmers to end the match with 32lb and 4th overall. If I could do it again I would of gone on an all-out skimmer attack as it was solid with them but I just ran out of time! I also believe that the strawberry flavouring drew fish into my peg because I couldn’t get a bite at 14m on pellet but I could when I put strawberry attractor in one things for sure it certainly did no harm! It was a nice day shame the fish didn’t play ball but I had fun and that’s all that matters.

Harry
Hope everyone else has been bagging!

Tight Lines
