Q&A with Bait-Tech’s Andy May

Q: What is your number one go to mix for Method feeder fishing? I get confused by all the different types of baits on the market and just want to settle on one type.

I was always a big fan of just using groundbait whether it be a sweet fishmeal mix or a natural fishmeal mix but I also recognised the power of pellets. This can be confusing and now I only use one mix and that’s half Bait-Tech Big Carp Method Mix Krill & Tuna and half 2mm Bait-Tech Carp & Coarse pellets.

03.02.15_2But, unconventionally I mix the pellets and the groundbait dry before I add water. Make sure you do the mix as soon as you get to your peg as it will take a good 20 minutes to get right with all the pellets absorbing the water. What this does is give you a really fluffy mix that is full of particles, perfect for the Method feeder.

Keep an eye on the texture as the pellets will absorb water over a period of time. You then have a mix that will draw fish into your swim and hold them in your peg over a long period.
