Q&A with Bait-Tech’s Dave Roberts

Q: Can you use pellets when fishing the stick float on rivers? I know they are great for barbel and big fish but what about using them as loose fed for smaller species?

A: The simple answer to this is yes! I’ve done a lot of experimenting with pellets and I regularly use them as feed in a similar way as I do when loose feeding maggots. They create a fantastic carpet of feed that all species seem to love. Also the added bonus of the high attraction can often mean you find yourself catching big bonus fish like a bream, chub and even a barbel.

I use the Bait-Tech Xpand pellets in the 2mm size. Once pumped I have found that these fall at a slow rate very similar to how a maggot falls. They are perfect and I use them a lot!
